Support our rangers in the 2026 Wildlife Ranger Challenge.

Rangers are Africa’s unsung heroes. In Gonarezhou, rangers patrol, gather intelligence, track wildlife, and work around the clock to protect this landscape and everything within it. Their work forms the foundation of the conservation success story in Gonarezhou: in 2025 it helped maintain zero rhino and elephant poaching and an 83% conviction rate for wildlife crime, safeguarding the elephant, rhino and other species this park is known for, and the ecosystems they depend on.

This year, Gonarezhou’s rangers are once again taking part in the Wildlife Ranger Challenge, and we are asking our community to stand with them.

What is the Wildlife Ranger Challenge

The Wildlife Ranger Challenge is an annual campaign organised by Tusk, a British conservation charity founded in 1990 in response to Africa’s poaching crisis, with HRH Prince William as Royal Patron and the Game Rangers Association of Africa (GRAA).  The challenge brings ranger teams from across the continent together in a series of physical events, a true test of fitness, teamwork and solidarity, while raising vital funds for the people who protect Africa’s wildlife.

The 2026 challenge

The campaign builds across a series of events from 21st July through to 19th September 2026:

  • Quiz
  • Push up challenge
  • Sit up challenge
  • A 2.4km time trial
  • A 21km run carrying 22kg (Men)/10kg(Women) backpacks

Every dollar donated to Gonarezhou’s fundraising page is matched in full by a generous donor, Mark Scheinberg, doubling the impact of every gift. Funds raised go directly towards ranger salaries, equipment, boots, welfare and training, the essentials that keep our ranger teams protecting this landscape day and night.
