News from the Chilojo Club
The Chilojo Club is a joint venture by Gonarezhou Conservation Trust, African Wildlife Conservation Fund and the WILD Programme, focusing on providing conservation education and awareness for schools in a radius of 10 km from the Gonarezhou boundary.
The Chilojo Club have been involved in a Library book distribution program over the past few weeks. With the help of their partners they have distributed library books to schools within the GCT operational area.
The Gonarezhou portion of the library program started in 2015 with 15 primary schools and has grown to 42 primary and 4 secondary schools this year, covering a large proportion of the schools reached by the Chilojo Club.
They ask that the schools provide a building or room in which to house the books with adequate shelving. The Chilojo Club with the help of partners involved (The Beit Trust, Books For Africa, Book Aid International and The Ministry of Education Zimbabwe) assist with the process of getting the libraries stocked with books.
Chilojo Clubs role is to distribute and monitor these books and facilities as well as assisting in the training of the Librarians to run them.
The hardworking Education team, Mr Ezekia Chauke and Anesu Chimambo have physically loaded and unloaded tonnes of books to deliver to schools. They still approach it with a smile and cheerful conviction that what they are doing is not only good, but necessary for the development for our surrounding communities. Keep up the excellent work guys.
